This is a translation. If it differs from the Japanese version, the Japanese version prevails.
uchu.social hosts AT Protocol accounts (it is a PDS). Content stored in a uchu.social account is covered by these guidelines, whichever app it was posted from. Please help us keep this a place people can use with confidence.
1. Principles
- Respect others: accept differences of opinion and position, and choose conversation over attacks and put-downs.
- Safety first: take care not to endanger children, vulnerable people, or anyone's mental safety.
- Authenticity: do not impersonate others or take part in coordinated deception.
- Follow the law: comply with Japanese law and the laws where you live.
2. Prohibited content and conduct
The following is not allowed on uchu.social. When we find it, we may remove the content or suspend the account.
2.1 Adult content (prohibited outright)
Adult content may not be posted on uchu.social. A content warning (self-label) does not make it allowed.
- Images, videos, illustrations, CG or AI-generated images depicting sexual acts or genitals, or emphasizing sexual body parts
- Nudity, in any context
- Text whose main purpose is sexual depiction
- Links to, or promotion of, adult content or sexual services
This applies not only to posts but also to profile pictures, banners, link-card thumbnails and data stored in Spaces. If you are unsure, do not post it.
Sexual content involving people under 18, or characters presented as minors — real or not, including illustrations, CG and AI-generated images — leads to immediate suspension and, where appropriate, a report to law enforcement.
2.2 Illegal activity and rights violations
- Posting, linking to or alluding to child sexual abuse material (CSAM); sexual contact with or solicitation of minors
- Specific threats against others, incitement to violence, and encouraging or promoting suicide, self-harm or eating disorders
- Glorifying or recruiting for violent extremism or terrorist organizations
- Running accounts for impersonation, misrepresentation or fraud
- Infringing copyright, trademarks, privacy or publicity rights, including reposting others' writing or images without permission
- Publishing sexual images or videos of someone without their consent, including sexual deepfakes of real people
- Selling or brokering illegal drugs, firearms or other regulated goods
- Distributing malware or phishing kits, or instructions for attacking others
2.3 Harassment and discrimination
- Discrimination, insults or dehumanization based on race, ethnicity, nationality, origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age, appearance and similar attributes
- Persistent harassment of an individual, or targeting someone as a group
- Publishing someone's personal information against their will (doxxing)
2.4 Spam and abuse
- Mass posting of identical or similar content, or mass publishing of low-quality posts generated automatically (for example, by AI)
- Soliciting or advertising through indiscriminate mentions, replies or direct messages
- Running like-for-like or follow-for-follow rings to manipulate engagement; repeatedly following and unfollowing in bulk
- Spreading harmful or fraudulent links to lure people
- Creating accounts in bulk, or evading email verification (for example, with disposable addresses)
2.5 Violent and graphic content
Posts with violent or graphic images, such as blood or injuries, must carry a content warning (graphic-media). Excessively gruesome content, and content glorifying violence, is prohibited with or without a label.
2.6 Prohibited commercial content
Introducing, advertising, selling or recruiting for the following is prohibited, however it is worded:
- Dating services, or introduction services presented as matchmaking
- Sex-related businesses and services, and recruiting for them
- Sexual information products
- Gambling that is illegal to take part in from Japan, such as online casinos
- Selling unapproved medicines or claiming effects that violate Japan's Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act; unregistered investment advice or soliciting for crypto assets and the like; recruiting for multi-level marketing
2.7 Attacks on the Service
- Load attacks on uchu.social's servers, or exploiting vulnerabilities
- Attempting to obtain other users' credentials
- Creating accounts to evade a suspension
3. Bots and automation
Accounts that post automatically (bots) are allowed as long as they:
- say in their profile that they are a bot;
- give a contact in their profile that identifies who runs them;
- do not follow, mention or reply indiscriminately;
- do not place excessive load on the servers.
4. Protected expression
Clearly labelled satire and parody, journalism, education, security research, whistleblowing in the public interest and sharing publicly available official information are generally protected, even when their subjects find them unpleasant — unless they incite illegal acts or turn into direct attacks on individuals.
5. Enforcement
When a violation is confirmed, uchu.social may take the following measures, chosen by severity:
- a warning;
- deleting the post or file, or stopping its distribution;
- suspending (taking down) the account — while suspended, its data is not distributed to the network;
- deleting the account;
- reporting to law enforcement. We may report the following suspected offences to the police or other authorities and respond to lawful requests for information:
- posting or spreading child sexual abuse material
- death threats, intimidation or incitement to violence
- abetting or assisting suicide
- distributing obscene material (Article 175 of the Japanese Penal Code)
- trading or brokering illegal drugs, firearms or other regulated goods
- obtaining money or personal information through fraud or impersonation
- unauthorized access or theft of credentials
Whether content is shown or hidden in connected apps (such as Bluesky) is decided by each app and the moderation services it uses.
6. Reporting
The "report" function inside an app usually goes to that app's moderation team. If you find a guideline violation by a uchu.social account, or have been harmed by one, contact us at:
biz[at]spuit.tech
If you can, include the account's handle and the post's URL (an at:// URI or the link in the app).
7. Changes to these guidelines
We update these guidelines as the AT Protocol evolves and as the community gives feedback. We will announce important changes on the Service.
